Privacy Policy

Q What is the Focusline.com privacy policy?

A All of the personal information provided in our member registration is held in the strictest confidence. It is NEVER revealed, sold, or exchanged with any outside company or agency without permission. When a member participates in a research project, the only information shared with our clients is the opinions expressed about specific products and services.


Q I received SPAM email from Focusline.com? What's going on?

A Focusline.com does not send SPAM to anyone. Unfortunately, SPAMMERS use a technique called SPOOFING which pretends to come from legitimate domains like Focusline.com. We apologize for this problem, but we have nothing to do with sending SPAM. Please Remember: Don't ever purchase anything or click on links in SPAM email - it just supports the SPAMMERS and keeps them SPAMMING us all.

Membership

Q What do I get when I join Focusline as a member?

A You get the opportunity to participate in paid research studies.


Q Does it cost anything to join Focusline?

A No, joining is absolutely FREE. Our members are NEVER required to pay or purchase anything in order to join and participate in our studies. All we ever request of you is your time.


Q I don't live in the United States. Do you accept members from other countries?

A Yes, we accept International members from around the world.


Q Do you share my personal information with anyone else?

A No, only your opinions about specific products and services.


Q My husband/wife and I each have different email addresses. Can we both become members?

A Yes, you can both join as long as you register with different email addresses.


Q I have more than one e-mail address. Can I sign up under each one?

A No. Please choose and use only one e-mail address per person. Old duplicate registrations will be deleted.


Q Can my 12 year old son sign up?

A No, we do not use anyone under 13 years old at this time.


Q I no longer want to be a member. How do I cancel my membership?

A Just send an email to remove@focusline.com and be sure to tell us your name and email address that you are registered under.

Surveys and Focus Groups

Q Are all of your studies done on the internet or do I have to travel to participate?

A Our studies are all internet based. Members need to have an internet connection and a valid registered email address in order to participate.


Q Where is your log in area and what is my username and password?

A We do not have a log in area. We contact members by email with all the necessary information when we would like their participation in a paid study. Your email address is your identifier or username.


Q I use email filtering software. What email address does Focusline use to contact me for participating in surveys?

A Registration confirmation emails are sent from register@myfocusline.com. We will use either info@focusline.com or register@myfocusline.com for all survey email contact with members. Please add both register@myfocusline.com and info@focusline.com to your allowed addresses in your filtering software.


Q What are pre-qualifying surveys and how much do they pay?

A Pre-qualifying surveys are very short non-paying surveys which help us determine your suitability for an upcoming paid study. We contact members by email to request their participation in pre-qualifying surveys.


Q How will you notify me if I am selected for a paid survey or focus group?

A If you are selected to participate in a paid study, we will e-mail you with all the necessary information you will need to participate.


Q How much time do I have to participate in a paid study if I am selected?

A Paid surveys only remain active for a short time, so try to visit the supplied link as soon as possible. Focus groups and one-on-one interviews are scheduled two weeks to a month ahead of time, and where possible we will give you 2 opportunities to participate in a particular study you are selected for.


Q I received an invitation to a survey and answered some questions, but was then told that I didn't qualify. Why?

A Most surveys start with some pre-qualifying questions which ask for information about you that we don't have available in your member profile. Although you fit the basic demographics required, you didn't match the specific requirements needed for that particular survey.


Q How long does it take to complete a paid survey or focus group session?

A Paid surveys can vary, but usually take between 10 and 40 minutes to complete. Focus groups and one-on-one interviews take between 30 minutes to an hour.


Q I have been a member for a while and I haven't received an invitation to a study. Why?

A When a company hires us to do market research for them, they request that we work with specific demographics and numbers of participants. If you have not been asked to participate with us yet, please be patient. We will contact you by email with all the necessary information when we would like your participation in one of our studies.


Q How will I be paid if I complete a paid study?

A We have 2 methods for payment, but some studies are paid by only one method. You will be notified of any such restrictions in the survey invitation email. We can either send a company check via regular mail, or we can pay using a well known service called PayPal. Upon completion of a paid study, we will ask you which payment method you prefer unless the study had a payment restriction stated in the survey invitation email. Payments are not processed until a study has finished and survey results are checked and verified. This whole process, including payment processing, can take up to 8 weeks after the close of a research study.


Q Do you deduct any taxes out of my completed survey payment?

A We do not deduct any taxes on money paid to our members for participation in our studies. It is up to individual members to report any payment as income if necessary.


Q You didn't ask for my address when I registered. How will you mail me a check?

A We will contact you by email to get the necessary information when needed.

Technical Difficulties

Q What do I do if some of my personal information changes?

A If you need to change any part of your personal profile, please register again. When we receive your new registration, your old registration will be deleted.


Q When I filled out the registration form and hit the submit button I received an error message. What should I do?

A Go back to the registration page and try again. Make sure you have no spaces at the beginning or end of the email address field. This can cause an "Invalid Email Address" error. Auto-form fill programs quite often add spaces that aren't readily noticeable, so check for this when completing our registration form.
